Professional Removalists Wanted

Proper job. Proper company. Proper standards.

We are looking for professional removalists to join the team at M&G Removals & Storage.

This is not a job advert for “a bloke with a van”. It is not for casual cash-in-hand workers, agency temps, or anyone who thinks turning up late in trainers and dragging furniture around is good enough.

We are a long-established, high-standard removal and storage company. We are BAR members, we operate properly, we employ properly, and we expect our crews to behave properly.

We are looking for people who take pride in the craft of moving.

The role

You will be working as part of our removals team, carrying out household removals, commercial moves, packing, loading, unloading, storage work, and everything else that comes with being a proper professional mover.

The work can be fun. It can also be hard. Some days are straightforward. Some days are long, awkward, heavy, hot, cold, wet, muddy, or all of the above.

That is removals.

Start times are usually around 8:00am to 8:30am, although earlier starts are sometimes needed. Finish times vary. Late finishes do happen, although they are becoming less common each year as we continue improving how we plan and run jobs.

You must be able to start early and finish late when the job requires it.

The good bit

There is a real team ethos here.

There is camaraderie, banter, pride, and a proper family feel. Many of our professional movers have been with us for years, which tells you something about the way we operate.

We are not perfect, but we do try to do things properly. We look after our people, we invest in our standards, and we care deeply about the reputation of the business.

The current age range of our removals operatives is 18 to 56, so this is not about age. It is about attitude, work ethic, professionalism, and whether you fit the team.

The employment package

These are permanent, salaried positions based on 40 hours per week.

That means proper employment. Same pay month after month. Not “we’ll see what work comes in”. Not cash in hand. Not random days here and there.

At the time of writing, basic salaries range from National Minimum Wage through to the mid-thirty-thousands, particularly for those holding a Category C driving licence.

Overtime and, especially, tips can realistically add the equivalent of another £2,000 to £5,000 per year.

For many weeks of the year, removals operatives will barely work anywhere near 40 hours. Then, every now and again, a week can appear where it is closer to 60 hours.

That is part of the deal. It is what it is.

Driving licences

We are seeking professional movers first.

However, holding a driving licence is a major advantage.

We run a varied fleet, from cars and vans through to 18-tonne vehicles, and we do need people who can drive our vehicles. A standard driving licence is useful. A Category C licence is a significant advantage.

Who this is not for

This role is not for people who want an easy ride.

It is not for people who clock-watch every five minutes.
It is not for people who disappear when there is a difficult lift.
It is not for people who think “good enough” is good enough.
It is definitely not for people who have picked up bad habits at cowboy removal firms.

We are at the top end of the trade, and we intend to stay there.
