Facilities Manager Roles
We are looking for somebody proactive, practical and genuinely can-do to join us in a busy, lively and hands-on role within our company.
These are part-time permanent positions, with one role primarily covering the morning shift Monday to Friday and the other primarily covering the afternoon shift Monday to Friday. Both roles also include regular Saturday working, as Saturdays are one of our busiest and most important days. However, Saturday cover is shared on a limited basis across the wider team during the year, so it is not every single Saturday without exception.
Each role averages approximately 31.6 paid hours per week, with pay at ยฃ14.50 per hour and average earnings of approximately ยฃ23,852.50 gross per year, depending on the wider Saturday rota.
This is not a position for somebody who wants to sit back, watch the clock and let the day drift by. It is for somebody who notices what needs doing, gets on with it, and takes real pride in helping keep a busy business running properly. A proactive attitude and a genuine can-do approach are absolute requirements.
The role is customer-facing, varied and active. It combines day-to-day facilities support, general site presentation, customer assistance, deliveries, vehicle preparation, light physical work, loading packing materials and boxes, minor practical duties and general assistance to a busy company. One moment you may be helping keep the office, storage facility and surrounding areas looking smart and presentable, and the next you may be assisting a customer, taking in a delivery, helping prepare a vehicle, or dealing with another practical task that needs attention.
Good people skills are essential. You will need to be comfortable dealing with customers face to face and, from time to time, on the telephone as well. A friendly, confident and personable manner matters, as does the ability to help customers feel welcome, looked after and dealt with properly.
This is not heavy industrial work, but it is an active role and does require a basic level of physical fitness, a smart appearance and a willingness to muck in wherever needed. We are looking for somebody switched-on, dependable and presentable, who takes pride in doing things properly and does not need constant prompting.
The environment here is upbeat, busy and good-humoured. The music is usually on, the place is lively, and the banter is constant. No two days are quite the same. It is the sort of role that keeps your brain switched on, keeps you sharp, and suits somebody who enjoys being useful, being around people and being part of a business where their contribution genuinely matters.
A full UK driving licence is required, and the successful applicant must be insurable to drive company vehicles under our motor insurance arrangements. The role may ultimately require the successful applicant to drive company vehicles, so confidence around vehicles, or a willingness to learn, is important. No more than 6 penalty points will be considered, and nothing more serious than minor speeding offences. Cat C1 or Cat C would be an advantage, but not essential.
Basic computer skills are also needed, or at least a genuine willingness to learn, as the role involves using software and work communication systems in the interests of customer service. Successful applicants will also need to be willing to use Microsoft Teams and Outlook on a smartphone for work communication.
Both roles also involve keyholder responsibility. On very rare occasions, attendance outside normal working hours may be required in response to an alarm activation. This is expected to be uncommon, but flexibility matters. Any such attendance would be paid at double time.
Training will be provided where needed. We do not expect somebody to arrive knowing everything, but we do expect somebody willing to learn, willing to help, and willing to take pride in doing the job properly.
